Writing

This week for writing we are focusing on writing retells of popular stories. We are doing this to help us learn to write longer stories and creating a retell is a fun way to do this. 

First we watched 'The Three Little Pigs' 

Then we used a picture plan to help retell the story in order. Children had to create the introduction starting with Once upon a time... and then follow the order of the pictures.

Reading

At reading time we have a reading tumble that children follow and they move around the different activities - reading to self, reading to someone, word work, work on writing, listening station and working with the teacher.

Term 2 Assembly

I am so proud of my fantastic room 3 children they all did so well today at assembly!!

We sang 'Ma te mahi ka ora' and they sang beautifully! So thank you parents for practicing that at home as well. We then showed our circle art work which looks so good and is now hanging up in the classroom, so make sure you come in and have a look. We also showed our hand washing video which all the children are so proud of. Some parents have asked for a copy of this so if you would like a copy then feel free to send in a pen key or CD and I will put it on there for you.

Ma te mahi ka ora

Room 3 is on junior school assembly this Thursday 2.15-3pm. 

We have been practicing this song in class to sing at assembly and you can sing it at home as well.

Maths - Position and Orientation

For the next few weeks in Maths we are looking at position and orientation here are some games that we looked at and will be looking at, you can play them at home too.

Skipping

In PE we have started looking at skipping. We are trying to learn to skip forwards and backwards. We did some relays with our skipping ropes and even tried to do some tricky moves with the skipping rope - double skips, cross overs, side to side jumps.
